The Jupiter Hammerheads of the Florida State League began play in 1998. From 1998 to 2001, the club was an affiliate of the Montreal Expos, and since 2002, the team has been affiliated with the Florida Marlins. The Hammerheads play their home games at Roger Dean Stadium, which they have shared since 2003 with the Palm Beach Cardinals, also of the Florida State League. The Hammerheads franchise was known as the West Palm Beach Expos from 1969 to 1997.
