[edit] Biographical Information

Juan Miranda hit .412/.500/.647 as one of Cuba's top performers in the 2002 World University Championship, in which they won Gold. He failed to make the All-Tournament outfield. He defected around 2005 and made his major league debut with the New York Yankees in 2008.

After the 2010 season, the Yankees dealt Miranda to the Arizona Diamondbacks in return for minor league pitcher Scottie Allen.

Miranda signed with the Orix Buffaloes for 2014, one of four Cubans to jump to Japan that year along with Leslie Anderson, Bárbaro Cañizares and Yuniesky Betancourt. On Opening Day, he hit 5th and played DH for Orix. He flew out against Chihiro Kaneko in his first at-bat in Nippon Pro Baseball. His first hit was an 8th-inning double off Tatsuya Sato.
