Juan Melo was in the majors only one season (so far), in the year 2000, but he is still playing minor league baseball. He broke into the minors in 1993 and in 2007 he is in his 15th minor league season. Through 2006 he had gotten over 5,000 minor league at-bats, over 1,500 hits, over 100 home runs, and 100 stolen bases.

Melo was 0 for 12 in the 2008 Caribbean Series but his Tigres del Licey still won a title. Melo had won the 2007-2008 Dominican League batting title at .318.

Melo signed with Telemarket Rimini in Italy for 2008.
