Shortstop Juan Diaz was signed by the Seattle Mariners in 2006 and made his pro debut as a 17 year old that summer with the DSL Mariners, hitting .191 in 58 games. He began the next summer with the High Desert Mavericks, for whom he appeared in 6 games before moving on to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. After spending 2008 back with the Timber Rattlers, he spent most of 2009 back with the Mavericks, for whom he hit .311 in 84 games.
