Jose de la Torre reached AAA in 2010.

De la Torre signed with the New York Mets as an undrafted free agent in 2006; Ray Corbett was the scout. He split the season between the Kingsport Mets (0-1, 3 Sv, 0 R, 17 K in 12 IP) and Brooklyn Cyclones (2-2, 5 Sv, 2.84, 29 K in 25 1/3 IP). He fell to 4-7 wit height saves and a 4.55 ERA for the 2007 St. Lucie Mets, allowing a .302 average but walking only 10 in 61 1/3 innings.

Jose missed 2008 with injury. In '09, he did well with St. Lucie (3-3, 3 Sv, 2.77) and the Binghamton Mets (3-2, 2 Sv, 2.67). Overall, he struck out 72 in 69 1/3 IP. De la Torre split 2010 as well, between Binghamton (2 Sv, 2.05) and the Buffalo Bisons (3-2, Sv, 2.98), with 80 whiffs to 52 hits in 72 1/3 innings. He was named to the Puerto Rican national team for the 2010 Pan American Games and Baseball World Cup Qualification Tournament. He got the win in a 7-6 comeback victory over Panama.
