[edit] Biographical Information
Jose Macias is disliked by many internet Chicago Cubs fans who see his playing time as favoritism by manager Dusty Baker. During the 2005 season he became the Cubs' everyday centerfielder while Jerry Hairston Jr. was on the disabled list.
After being released by the Cubs the following offseason, Macias signed with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in Japan. He hit .229 with 21 RBIs in 73 games as the Ham Fighters won the 2006 Japan Series.
After spending 2007 with the Nashville Sounds in the Milwaukee Brewers organization, Macias became a free agent and signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates, but did not return to the major leagues.
