In 2006, Joselo Diaz appeared in 4 games for the Kansas City Royals. He worked 6 2/3 innings but gave up 10 hits and 8 walks. This resulted in a 10.80 ERA. He struck out 3 batters. He began his professional career as a catcher in the Dodgers organization.

Diaz spent 2007 in Japan, going 3-4 with 2 saves and a 4.59 ERA in 45 games for the Yokohama BayStars. He allowed 47 hits in 66 2/3 innings but walked 58. The former catcher went 3 for 9 with a homer at the plate. He pitched for the Águilas Cibaeñas in the 2008 Caribbean Series, striking out eight and allowing one run (unearned) in six innings of work to pick up a win.

Diaz signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets for 2008.
