Jose Santiago pitched in the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup, shutting out Guatemala for 7 innings in a win. His Puerto Rican club won the title in that event and qualified for the 2009 Baseball World Cup. Santiago was one of three Santiagos on the staff alongside former major leaguer Jose Santiago and Mario Santiago.
