De Jong was 0-1 with a 10.13 ERA for the Netherlands in the 2002 World Junior Championship. In 2004, he was with the Amsterdam Pirates. He moved to HCAW for 2005 and went 5-4 with a 1.90 ERA, allowing no homers and 65 hits in 80 2/3 innings. He tied for 9th in the league in wins and was 8th in ERA. He was 0-1 in the Holland Series, allowing 3 hits, 2 walks and 2 runs in his lone inning of work against DOOR Neptunus. In the 2006 season, Jos was 3-4 with a save and a 4.17 ERA for HCAW.
The right-hander moved back to the Amsterdam Pirates for 2007 and went 7-5 with a 3.78 ERA. He tied Patrick Beljaards for 5th in the league in victories, was 6th in innings (75 2/3), tied Eddie Oropesa for second in complete games (3) and led in strikeouts (84, 9 ahead of runner-up David Bergman). He was a finalist for Pitcher of the Year along with Leon Boyd and Bergman, the winner.
In 2008, Jos went 7-0 with a 2.18 ERA, allowing 54 hits (1 homer) and fanning 65 in 70 1/3 IP. He fell to 6th in strikeouts, tied for 8th in wins, tied for the shutout lead (1), was 7th in ERA and 3rd in opponent average (.288, trailing only 4-time Olympian Rob Cordemans and Bergman). He lost his only playoff start, but got the call in game one of the 2008 Holland Series. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 7 innings in a no-decision; Amsterdam would go on to claim its first Holland Series title since the 1980s.
De Jong was on the provisional Dutch roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic but did not make the final cut. He was 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA in the 2009 European Cup's Nettuno phase. In the Final Four of the Cup, de Jong tossed 7 shutout innings against Corendon Kinheim but his team gave him no support and went on to lose in extra frames.
