[edit] Biographical Information
Jorge Sosa started his pro career as a position player before converting to the mound in the minors. He broke into the majors as a Rule V pick by the Milwaukee Brewers from the Seattle Mariners organization. The Brewers put him on waivers and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays claimed him. Though Sosa was exceedingly raw, the fact that his live right arm could touch 100 mph convinced Tampa to keep him as a developmental project.
Sosa had a 2.70 ERA for the victorious Tigres del Licey in the 2008 Caribbean Series.
In 2008, Sosa was tested positive for amphetamine and suspended for 50 games.
