Jonathan Fernández is the son of Tony Fernández. He was picked by his father's old team, the Toronto Blue Jays, in the 34th round of the 2009 amateur draft. He split time between the GCL Blue Jays (.192/.371/.269 in 11 G) and the Auburn Doubledays (.217/.375/.232 in 26 G), with 24 walks in 37 games. He fielded .933 while playing primarily second base.
