Johnny Priest made his debut under manager Hal Chase with the 1911 New York Highlanders. He came back the following year under new manager Harry Wolverton.
He had been with Danville in 1910.
The New York Times of March 18, 1911, says that Chase turned Priest over to Indianapolis. The article further says that Priest previously had been employed in D.C. by the Department of Agriculture and had gotten his start in the "Department League".
Some fans put him on the "All Religious" team, along with Dave Pope, Max Bishop, Mark Grace, and Ivan DeJesus.
