[edit] Biographical Information
Johnny Hudson played seven years in the majors, serving as the regular second baseman for the 1938 Brooklyn Dodgers and getting a lot of at-bats in 1939 also.
Hudson was with Montreal in 1941 and tried for a slot with Nashville in 1946 but ended up accepting a job as player-manager for Jacksonville.
Hudson managed the Jacksonville Tars (1946-1948) and was a scout for the New York Giants (1949-1957) and San Francisco Giants (1958-1970).
He played in the first night game at Ebbetts Field in 1938.
There is a photo of him in The Dodgers: 120 Years of Dodgers Baseball.
He was nicknamed "Mr. Chips" because he was considered a good guy to have around when the chips were down.
