From 1984-1990, Verhoeven ran the Grand Slam USA Baseball Academy in Anaheim, CA. Was the pitching coach at California State University, Dominguez Hills (1991-1994), Pepperdine University (1996), and Loyola Marymount University (1997). Has been the head coach at Biola University since 1998, taking the school to the NAIA College World Series in 2001, 2003, and 2005.
