[edit] Biographical Information
John Stoneham played ten games with the 1933 Chicago White Sox, mostly in right field. The regular right fielder at the time was Evar Swanson, whose range in the outfield had dipped. Swanson went on to be the regular again in 1934.
Stoneham was born in Wood River, IL, not far from St. Louis, MO. He went to Washington University in St. Louis at the same time as Bill Beckmann, although Stoneham got to the majors far sooner than Beckman.
