[edit] Biographical Information
John "Buckshot" Skopec pitched for the 1901 White Sox and the 1903 Tigers.
The book Ed Barrow indicates that Skopec was released in late 1903. Skopec claimed there was dissension on the team regarding Barrow. Barrow, for his part, claimed that Skopec "refused to come east with the team because he could not have a lower bunk in the sleeper". Skopec had been acquired from St. Paul.
He also played in the Southern Association in 1902 and for Newark in 1905.
Skopec gave up the first home run in American League history, one by Erve Beck.
