Son of John O'Donoghue, John O'Donoghue pitched 11 games for the 1993 Baltimore Orioles. He had a quick rise to the majors after not being drafted in 1990 out of Louisiana State University.
Most of 1990 was spent in the rookie league, where he had a 2.01 ERA and a record of 4-2. In 1991 he had an ERA of 2.90 in the Single A Carolina League, and in 1992 he split his time between AA Hagerstown where he went 7-4 with a 2.23 ERA, and AAA Rochester where he 5-4 with a 3.23 ERA.
