[edit] Biographical Information

The 2008 Republican nominee for United States President, and current Senior Arizona Senator, John McCain has been the Senator for Arizona from 1987 to the present.

By 2004, McCain had become one of the most outspoken Congressional critics of Major League Baseball's steroid policies - or lack thereof. In December of 2004, he threatened to introduce legislation imposing drug testing standards on professional athletes if baseball players and owners did not adopt a strong policy on steroids. He famously told Donald Fehr that baseball "is about to become a fraud" over the steroids issue.

McCain has stated numerous times that his favorite player of all time was Ted Williams, not only for his abilities and service to his country, but mostly for his independent nature. He has been known to take in an Arizona Diamondbacks game during down time.
