John Massarelli

Catcher John Massarelli was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 8th round of the 1987 amateur draft. He played in the Astros system from 1987 to 1993 reaching AAA. He also played in the minor league chains of the Florida Marlins (1994-1995), Cleveland Indians (1995), and San Diego Padres (1996).

In 1999 Massarelli was a coach for the Michigan Battle Cats. He managed in the Astros' chain from 2000 to 2003, and has managed in the Frontier League since 2004. Massarelli is also an assistant coach at Malone College.

On August 24, 2007, Massarelli recorded his 500th career win, with the Washington Wild Things' 6-5 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies at Consol Energy Park.
