John "Pork Chop" Hoffman was up with the Houston Colt .45's in 1964-65. He also played seven years in the minors.
He was part of the youth movement of the Colt .45's. Although he was 20 in 1964, he was not the youngest player on the team, and there were numerous players who were also 20, including Rusty Staub and Joe Morgan. As a catcher, Hoffman backed up 21-year-old Jerry Grote, who hit .181.
