John B. Haskell (Jack)
John Haskell was a minor league player who later was an umpire and a legislator.
Haskell was 0 for 1 as an outfielder for the 1893 St. Joseph Saints and also appeared for the 1896 Burlington Colts.
He was an American League umpire in 1901. He was involved in two violent confrontations that year, getting punched by Burt Hart on August 5 and by Frank Shugart 16 days later in another disputed call. After his baseball days, he was active in Democratic politics and was a member of the Missouri state legislature.
