John Goetz pitched four games in the majors.
His debut outing on April 16, 1960 was by far his best; he pitched 2 and 2/3 innings against the Giants, only giving up 1 hit, walking 1 and striking out 2. Goetz even struck out Willie Mays in the bottom of the 6th inning.

John Goetz was born in a town that bears his last name -- Goetzville, located on the far eastern end of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
