[edit] Biographical Information
Son of Joe Flynn, John Flynn played three years in the major leagues. In his rookie year, his 6 home runs were notable given that the league leaders had ten and given that John appeared in only 96 games that year.
John Flynn and Andy Coakley were both born around the same time in Providence, RI and both played for the College of the Holy Cross as well as the National League. Coakley broke in at age 19 while Flynn came up as a 26-year-old rookie.
Flynn was at Holy Cross at the same time as Bill Carrigan, Jack Hoey, and Queenie O'Rourke.
His minor league career ran from 1906-21, in the Eastern League, American Association and International League. He hit .309 with 13 triples in 1914 for Montreal.
He also managed eight years in the Eastern League, for seven different teams.
