John Flannery played in 7 games with the 1977 Chicago White Sox. He started one game on September 18, 1977 against the California Angels. He played shortstop and hit ninth in the batting order. In his first at bat against Balor Moore, he struck out looking. In his second at bat, he grounded out to third base. He was pinch hit for by Oscar Gamble and replaced in the field by Don Kessinger. Previously on September 4 against the Baltimore Orioles, he had appeared as a pinch hitter and walked and scored a run against Tippy Martinez.
