Lefty John Cumberland was a nondescript swingman for the San Francisco Giants and other teams in the late 1960's and early 1970's. He posted creditable lifetime marks of a 15-16 record and a 3.82 ERA while also pitching for the New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, and California Angels.
Cumberland was a member of the Boston Red Sox coaching staff in 1995 and again from 1999 to 2001. He was then a Kansas City Royals coach from 2002 to 2004.
