In 1999, John Halama tied the Seattle Mariners team record of 9 wins in a row. One of the wins, a complete game shutout over the Texas Rangers, was the Mariners' first complete game shutout in 90 games.

He was the first Seattle Mariners pitcher to hit a double, on June 7, 1999 off Bobby M. Jones.

On July 7, 2001, Halama threw the first nine-inning perfect game in Pacific Coast League history. His Tacoma Rainiers topped the Calgary Cannons 6-0 and earned Halama a return trip to the big leagues (he had been demoted on June 28th).

Halama became a pitching coach with the York Revolution in 2013.
