[edit] Biographical Information

First baseman Joey Meyer was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 5th Round of the 1983 amateur draft. He led the Texas League with 37 home runs in 1985.

He hit .275-26-77 for the Taiyo Whales in 1990. Despite being a Hawaiian of Japanese decent, he didn't enjoy his stay in Japan, citing disagreements over injuries. He signed a Triple-A contract with in invitation to Major League camp with the Minnesota Twins following the season.
