[edit] Biographical Information
Joe Wall just couldn't convince the New York Giants to keep him, in spite of excellent hitting. In 1901, he hit .500 in four games, and then the following year he hit .357 and slugged .500 in six games. He was released by the Giants on August 15, and caught on with the 1902 Brooklyn Superbas, for whom he hit .167 in three games.
Wall was a left-handed catcher, although he also played some in the outfield.
He had been with the Toledo Mud Hens in 1901.
Wall was a major league umpire one year.
