[edit] Biographical Information
During an eleven year major league career, Joe Schultz played for seven of the eight National League clubs. Following his playing days, he managed in the minors and was a scout. He became the Pittsburgh Pirates farm director in 1939.
Schultz died at the age of 47 after he was stricken with ptomaine poisoning while on a scouting trip for the Pirates. He was the father of major league player and manager Joe Schultz.
