[edit] Biographical Information
Pitcher Joe Kerrigan of the Montreal Expos was the winning pitcher in both games of a doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals on September 8, 1976; the two victories were Kerrigan's first two in the majors and the only two games he would win that season.
After his playing career ended, Kerrigan was the Expos bullpen coach from 1983 to 1986, minor league pitching coach from 1987 to 1991 and their pitching coach from 1992 to 1996. He moved on to become the Boston Red Sox pitching coach from 1997 to 2001, when he replaced skipper Jimy Williams for the remainder of the season. Kerrigan was the Philadelphia Phillies pitching coach in 2003 and 2004, and in 2006 he joined the New York Yankees as bullpen coach.
Kerrigan's brother, Tom Kerrigan, was a catcher in the Philadelphia Phillies chain in 1963-1964 and his son Joe played in the minors for several seasons
