Joe Gonzales pitched 8 games for the 1937 Red Sox. He had come out of USC in 1937, where he was a teammate of Johnny Berardino. With the Red Sox, he was three years older than 19-year-old Bobby Doerr.
While at USC, Gonzales had thrown a no-hitter against Stanford University and a one-hitter against UCLA.
