Joe Garagiola, Jr. is the son of former catcher and legendary broadcaster Joe Garagiola. He joined the Arizona Diamondbacks front office in 1995 and was the expansion club's General Manager from when they began play in 1998 until he left the team in 2005. He was then hired by Major League Baseball to serve as Senior Vice-President of Baseball Operations. When MLB erorganized the Baseball Operations Department following the retirement of Bob Watson and the hiring of Joe Torre after the 2010 season, Garagiola was moved to Senior Vice President of Standards and On-Field Operations.In this position, he is responsible for on-field discipline, and issues related to stadium configuration and uniforms.
