John "Joe" Fogarty, from St. Louis, played in the majors with St. Louis in 1885. He also managed the 1890 Fort Worth Panthers.
In November 1887 the Phillies were in California, playing Los Angeles, with both John Fogarty and Jim Fogarty in the lineup.
