Joe Farrell was the third baseman for the Detroit Wolverines from 1882-84, as they went from a .500 club to one far below .500. Farrell's batting average also dropped in that time.
He came back in 1886 to play one year in the American Association, playing second base and third base.
He is one of eleven major leaguers named Farrell (through July 2007).
