Joe Almaraz was a high school baseball coach for a dozen years before stints as head coach at Howard College and Northeast Texas Community College. After that, he managed in the Arizona Diamondbacks and Baltimore Orioles organizations. In 2007, he took over as skipper of the Johnson City Cardinals. As of 2011, Alamarez was scouting for the Cardinals [1]
Almaraz had briefly played for the Alijadores de Tampico, hitting .236/~.250/.273 in 1975.
He is the brother of Johnny Almaraz and the father of Joseph Almaraz.
