Jody Lansford was a first-round draft pick in 1979 who played briefly in the majors in 1982 and 1983 for the San Diego Padres. A first baseman, he didn't have much chance of dislodging Steve Garvey in 1983.
A slugger, he had hit 24 home runs in Single A in 1980 and 25 home runs in Double A in 1981.
Brother of Carney Lansford and Phil Lansford and uncle of Jared Lansford and Josh Lansford.
