Jiro Hoshida broke in with the 1946 Chunichi Dragons with a 0-4, 7.71 year, but improved to 2-3, 2.36 the next season. In 1948, he went 10-8, 2.65 and won the first night game in NPB history. He slipped to 3-5, 5.12 a year later, then had seasons of 6-4, 3.22; 10-7, 3.37 and 3-4, 2.80 to complete his career at 34-35, 3.32.
