Jimy González was in the minor leagues and has played for the Nicaraguan national team.

Jimy hit .308 for San Joaquin 2 in the 1997 Venezuelan Summer League. In '98, he batted .277/.304/.450 for the Great Falls Dodgers with 61 RBI in 69 games. He was 37 RBI behind Jay Gibbons, who was busy rewriting the league's record book. González led the Pioneer League's second basemen in fielding percentage (.961), putouts (132) and assists (236) and made the All-Star team at second base.

Jimy hit .316/.348/.433 for the 1999 San Bernardino Stampede. He was 10th in the California League in batting average. Despite that, he returned to San Bernardino in 2000. He fell to .284/.325/.376 that year and stole 30 bases but was thrown out 21 times. That ended his career in the Los Angeles Dodgers system.

In the 2001 Baseball World Cup, he hit .333/.333/.500 and played error-free defense as Nicaragua's main second baseman. During the 2003 Baseball World Cup, Jimy hit .355/.382/.581 to help his country finish in 6th place. He led the 2003 Pan American Games with nine hits.
