[edit] Biographical Information
Jimmy Pofahl as a rookie was the regular shortstop for the 1940 Washington Senators and continued to play with the team in 1941-42. He hit .302 for Minneapolis in 1939 before he came to the majors and after his major league time he went back to Minneapolis in 1943.
Pofahl had developed a reputation at Minneapolis as a whiz at shortstop but injured his arm and wasn't able to impress defensively in the majors. Washington tried to cancel the deal with Minneapolis (they had paid $40,000 for Pofahl). Source: The Washington Senators: 1901-71.
The Senators moved Cecil Travis off of shortstop to make room for Pofahl, but moved Travis back there in 1941.
