Jimmy Moore was in the right place at the right time. Although he appeared in only 80 major league games during the regular season, he played on the last two Philadelphia Athletics teams that went to the World Series, in 1930 and 1931. The franchise would not go again until 1972, when the team had moved to Oakland.
Jimmy hit .333 in each World Series.
He is also famous for missing a fly ball hit by Ski Melillo which cost Lefty Grove a chance to win a record-breaking 17 games in a row. Supposedly, Grove was more upset at Al Simmons, who had taken the day off instead of playing in the outfield.
