Jim Schaffer was a Major League coach for 11 seasons. He coached for the Texas Rangers in 1978. He then coached for the Kansas City Royals from 1980 to 1988. Unlike most coaches, Schaffer served under a number of managers during his 9 year stay in Kansas City (Jim Frey, Dick Howser, Mike Ferraro, Billy Gardner, and John Wathan).
- Won a World Series as a coach for the 1985 Royals
