Jim Wilson was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 2nd Round (40th overall) of the 1982 amateur draft. He had previously been drafted by the the Boston Red Sox in the first round or the 1977 January Draft and by the San Francisco Giants in the 1979 draft but didn't sign either time. In 1985, he led the International League in home runs (26) and RBI (101) with the Maine Guides.
