Jim Toman has been a college coach.

Toman was assistant coach at Richmond Senior High School for two years and Atlantic Community High School for one year. He was an assistant at Florida International University (1989) and North Carolina State University (1990-1996). He was an assistant for the University of South Carolina from 1997-2007. His teams went to the College World Series in 2002, 2003 and 2004. He then got the head coaching job at Liberty University. He was 35-26-1 his first year (2008), the best first-season performance by a Liberty baseball coach. The team was 33-21 in 2009 and 35-24 in 2010.
