Jim Proctor has a page in the book Crossing the Line. He went to Maryland State College (now called the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore), starring on a state-championship team, and then signed with the Negro League Indianapolis Clowns. He was leading the Southern League in ERA when called up to the majors in 1959.
