Jim Panther pitched three seasons in the major leagues. In 1972, his 58 appearances put him among the league leaders for most games pitched.

Panther had three distinguished managers. In 1971, he pitched in four games for the 1971 Oakland Athletics who won 101 games under manager Dick Williams. In 1972, he pitched for the 1972 Texas Rangers who lost 100 games under manager Ted Williams. In 1973, he pitched for the 1973 Atlanta Braves under Eddie Mathews.

Panther is sure to make the "all animal" team, with players such as Dean Crow, Chief Yellow Horse, Catfish Hunter, "Crime Dog" Fred McGriff, "Rattlesnake" Tom Baker,Bob Moose, and others.
