[edit] Biographical Information

Catcher Jim Pagliaroni, who played over a decade in the majors, was a pretty good hitter for a catcher. Playing much of his career during the second dead-ball era, he hit over .250, drew quite a few walks, and had some power.

Pag played his first full season in the majors in 1961, the same year that Carl Yastrzemski also had his first year with the Red Sox.

In the middle of his career he was a teammate of Willie Stargell and Roberto Clemente on the Pittsburgh Pirates, finishing second among the regulars in batting average in 1964 and second in homers in 1965.

He was a teammate of Reggie Jackson on the 1968 Athletics, in Reggie's first season with the A's. He was the catcher when Jim "Catfish" Hunter pitched his perfect game for the Athletics in 1968.

He closed out his major league career in the inaugural season of the Seattle Pilots, a team made famous by teammate Jim Bouton's book Ball Four.
