Jim Miller pitched eight games for the 2008 Orioles with an excellent 1.17 ERA, although he also allowed two unearned runs. In 2009 he pitched for Norfolk, getting 17 saves.
Miller was picked in the eighth round of the 2004 draft out of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he had been a successful reliever. Jim continued to relieve in the minors, never starting a game. Through 2009 he has 97 lifetime minor league saves, with a high of 34 for two teams in 2005.
With Norfolk in 2009 he led the team in pitching appearances, and had a 2.64 ERA on a team whose overall ERA was 3.89.
