[edit] Biographical Information
Jim Hutto was in the majors in 1970 and 1975. Most of his games were with the 1970 Phillies, for whom he played mostly left field and first base, although he also appeared in right field, at catcher, and at third base.
Hutto started in the minors in 1965 at age 17. Originally a third baseman, he played more outfield and first base as time went on, and then became primarily a catcher late in his minor league career. He had some power, with 110 minor league home runs, and batted as high as .326 for Salt Lake City in 1972.
He played for the 1968 Tulsa Oilers under manager Warren Spahn, a team which went 95-53.
With Salt Lake City in 1972, teammates included the 23-year-old Mickey Rivers, the 35-year-old Stan Williams and the 31-year-old Roger Repoz.
He managed in the minors in 1984-85.
