[edit] Biographical information

Jim Hoey was signed by the Baltimore Orioles and scout Jim Howard as the 13th round pick in the 2003 amateur draft. He missed much of 2004 while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Hoey pitched with the Baltimore Orioles in 2006 and 2007, then missed the entire 2008 season with an injury. He pitched in the Orioles' system in 2009 and 2010 without making it back to the Show. After the 2010 season, he was traded to the Minnesota Twins in the deal that brought J.J. Hardy to the Orioles.

Hoey began the 2011 season with the Rochester Red Wings, then was called up to Minnesota after 4 games, during which he went 1-0, 2.70. When he pitched for the Twins on April 18th, it was his first major league game since September of 2007. His return to the big leagues left a lot to be desired, however, as he put up a 9.72 ERA over 8 1/3 innings. He was sent back to Rochester on May 15th.
