After the 2010 season, he was traded to the Minnesota Twins in the deal that brought J.J. Hardy to the Orioles.
Hoey began the 2011 season with the Rochester Red Wings, then was called up to Minnesota after 4 games, during which he went 1-0, 2.70. When he pitched for the Twins on April 18th, it was his first major league game since September of 2007. His return to the big leagues left a lot to be desired, however, as he put up a 9.72 ERA over 8 1/3 innings. He was sent back to Rochester on May 15th.
