Pitcher Jim Bivin of the Philadelphia Phillies was the last pitcher to face Babe Ruth in a big league game when he started against the Boston Braves in the first game of the May 30, 1935 double-header.
Despite pitching in the majors in only one season, Bivin played in the minor leagues from 1932 to 1949. He pitched at the class A level or higher from 1932 to 1940, then at the B and C level from 1940 to 1949. He also spent 6 years managing in the Brooklyn Dodgers system.
