 Biographical Information
Pitcher Jim Bivin of the Philadelphia Phillies was the last pitcher to face Babe Ruth in a big league game when he started against the Boston Braves in the first game of the May 30, 1935 doubleheader.
Despite pitching in the majors in only one season, Bivin played in the minor leagues from 1932 to 1949. He pitched at the class A level or higher from 1932 to 1940, then at the B and C level from 1940 to 1949. He also spent 6 years managing in the Brooklyn Dodgers system.
